Vinay Kumar

Ambassador of India to the Democratic Republic of Sao Tome and Principe

Mr. Vinay Kumar, a career diplomat, assumed charge as Ambassador of India to the Democratic Republic of São Tomé and Príncipe on 08 July 2026.

Mr. Kumar joined the Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India, in November 1995. He has served abroad in various capacities at the Consulate General of India, Osaka (1998–2001); the Embassy of India, Almaty / Astana (2005–2008); the Embassy of India, Belgrade (2011–2014); the High Commission of India, Windhoek (2015–2019); and the Embassy of India, Baku (2019–2023).

At the headquarters in New Delhi, he has served in various positions in the Establishment, Protocol, Latin America & Caribbean, and Central America Divisions.

He holds a Master's degree in Commerce (Business Administration) from Agra University. He speaks Hindi, English, and Russian. He is married to Mrs. Monika and has two daughters.
