Department of School Education & Literacy (DoSEL), Ministry of Education has  drafted the UMEED  (Understand, Motivate, Manage, Empathize, Empower, Develop) Guidelines with the view to raise awareness on mental health issues and suicide prevention among students. This is in compliance with the judgment of the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India dated 25.07.2025 in Criminal Appeal No. 3177 of 2025 [arising out of SLP (Crl) No. 6378 of 2024], in the matter of Sukhdeb Saha vs. The State of Andhra Pradesh & Others.
