International Statistical Education Centre (ISEC), run by the Indian Statistical Insisute (ISI), under the auspices of the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MOS & PI), Government of India has been providing training in Statistics to sponsored trainees mainly from the countries of Middle East, the South and the South East Asia, the Far East and Africa since 1950. In addition to offering various short-term courses in Statistics, the Centre has been providing a Regular Training Course in Statistics, formally called Statistical Theory and Applications, given over a term of 10 month duration.
The Regular Courses on Statistical Theory and Applications will commence from 1 September 2026 to 30 June 2027. The candidates are usually officials from national statistical offices, government departments and business organisations who have experience in statistical work. They may also be teachers and research workers in Statistics from universities and other institutions and official in non-statistical fields, desiring to acquire knowledge in Statistics. This course is of invaluable help for statisticians whether they are working in the government sector or academic institutes and elevates their learning to a totally different level with lectures/classes taken by internationally renowned ISI faculty
The Course is being sponsored by the Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India and participants do not have to pay any fee. The Government of India offers a number of grants for training of foreigners in India under the Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation Programme. The medium of instruction for the course will be English.
